About me

Alison, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy, has been training dogs professionally for over 10 years.  “My love of companion dog training began the way every trainer’s did – as a student myself”.   Alison enrolled in training classes and workshops with her own dog, began volunteering at a training facility and then became lead instructor of puppy classes, obedience and dog sport classes.

Alison offers group classes at K9HQ in Langford.   Training methods are positive and gentle, with an emphasis on nurturing your relationship with your dog.

In the Basic class, we focus on foundation skills and manners  -
“attention, down, sit, come, walk nicely, stay, leave it, polite greetings” …

The Intermediate class takes those foundation skills to the next level, with added distractions.

Small class sizes allow for individual attention and maximum learning
(for both dog AND handler!)

Alison at home

Although group classes are wonderful, there are some dogs who need just a little extra.  Alison gravitated towards helping those clients whose dogs were simply too roused or afraid in a setting with other dogs, strange people and lots of distractions.  Individual one-on-one sessions are available and are essential in setting these dogs up for success in their homes and real-life situation.

Alison recently moved to the beautiful west coast and enjoys hiking and exploring with Jonah, her collie/shepherd mix.  She shares her home with cats Martin and Rocco.  Her 33 year old retired quarter horse, Doc sadly had to stay behind, but has acreage owner Ron and 12 year old Katie spoiling him rotten.
